Note on back cover: The Guitar That Changed The World
One of the great pioneers of rock & roll, Scotty Moore was a guitarist whose
terse, bluesy licks on Elvis Presley's early hits virtually created the
rockabilly guitar style and established the guitar as a lead instrument in the
rock vocabulary.
He took the stinging licks common to both country music and blues, and not only
combined elements of country & western and R&B, but added a rich tone through
heavier amplification.
Moore transformed the rote of the guitar player - through his particular, sunlit
style of playing, and also by changing what it meant to be a lead guitarist in a
band.
He didn't just carve out a new sound - he showed that the singer wasn't always
the most important thing on a record.
This essential collector's edition contains 30 remastered studio tracks from
Scotty Moore's legendary and most inspired years as rock & roll guitar pioneer,
consisting of a variety of the sensational master recordings he made for Sun
Records and RCA Victor, between 1954 and 1962. Most of them showcase him as the
right hand of the King.
