A 50-track collection first released in 1985,
when Elvis Presley would have turned 50, 50 Years-50 Hits is one of
the better, pre-digital, extended sets of Elvis' hits. Though the
tracks aren't presented in chronological order, the compilers
obviously spent some time creating a pace that worked, grouping
together songs from different eras as well as songs with different
topics ("Hound Dog" leads into "Old Shep"). The compilation misses
none of his major hits, and focuses more on his late-'50s prime than
any other period, spinning the hits, plus plenty of excellent
non-hits: "Wear My Ring Around Your Neck," "Crying in the Chapel," "Too
Much," and "My Wish Came True." (AllMusic Review by John Bush
