Liner notes:
Las Vegas in December is a rather dead City, so one might have thought that the idea of a Christmas season for Elvis was a weird idea...But Elvis again proved to be different with his status of American idol allowing him to sell out almost all 16 shows, while the rest of the hotels were closed...
After the collapse of the August season, Elvis takes until practically December to comeback to the stage to recuperate the missing shows.

People were very eager to see Elvis this time, they were wondering how his appearance would be after having been disappointed during the last season. He seemed to have recovered very well; he still looked heavy but is voice was good and strong as ever. He performed a very large number of songs, some very rare too. The opening night was great, the tracklist was stunning, Elvis wore the Blue Silver Eagle Suit and introduced the new song of the Season: "America, The Beautiful".
The songs awakened the national feeling as American Trilogy before and Elvis performance resonated so powerfully with the audience that they practically bent over on their feet after endless warm applause.

The show here presented in a very good audio-quality still sees Elvis in great mood very deep in his music delivering a good variety of songs all sang with great quality. We can say there are no low points in the Elvis' performance, maybe only the classic oldies are not seriously approached. However together with "America" Elvis reintroduces in his repertoire the beautiful "Just Pretend" here performed so well that it is almost the showstopper. At the same time Elvis delivers some very rough Rocker versions of his two classics Polk Salad Annie and Burning Love, well performed and well supported from the band.

The concert gives us other surprises with the original "Softly As I Leave You" that we think all in attendance could appreciate in a superb way at
a place like the Hilton showroom. We are also presented with some songs that come from 1975 recording sessions, during the post tour Elvis had concentrated himself to promote his new album Elvis Today singing 5/6 songs, here survived only two: "Fairytale" and" And I Love You So" while the too demanding single "T.R.O.U.BLE" was dropped.

What more can we say!! Elvis doesn't appear very well as you can see an the booklet included but he sang very well, we dare to say...in a GREAT way, all the performances have feeling and rhythm as in the best moments whilst at the same time the repertoire is solid and vary rare for that matter to give to the listener a large range of songs styles.

 Sample Sound:   Just Pretend

Concert:  The show is - like all of this Vegas season -  quite appealing with a strong setlist.
Elvis is in high spirits and he delivers fine renditions of Just Pretend, How Great Thou Art or Big Boss Man. Very enjoyable ! (Ciscoking)
