3 panel Digipak Press note:
Our previous release 'Solid As Rock' received a great deal of acclaim from the
fans, who praised the quality of Elvis' performance as well as the good audio.
Some even stated that we had 'undersold' this release, and that the
sound-quality of the recording is better than what was stated in our publicity.
We at Straight Arrow believe that self-praise is no praise at all; we prefer to
let our product speak for itself, which is also why we have built up a loyal
following over the years. We simply deliver the goods, no hype necessary. The
Straight Arrow team is always looking for rare, unknown or seemingly lost
recordings. Once again, the labels researchers were successful - BOTH Aug. 29,
1971 shows are completely new, even for die-hard Elvis fans. They have never
been in circulation - in any form! Unfortunately, the Aug. 29, 1971 M/S was not
recorded in its entirety. The cassette recorder was stopped - perhaps
accidentally - during „Love Me Tender“ and the last couple of songs are missing.
It is with pleasure that we can now offer you more recordings from 1971. This
fine Las Vegas season is still poorly documented, so we know that many fans will
be delighted with this release. Elvis delivers the goods with two no-nonsense
shows, from an engagement that marks the end of an era. From '69 until this
point, Elvis had created so much magic with his shows at the International. Not
long after this engagement, the International was sold to the Hilton group. The
hotel was renamed, and, oddly enough, some of the magic that was synonymous with
Elvis at the International disappeared. From this point onwards, his
performances in Vegas became very much a case of 'hit and miss'. Let's go back
and touch the past, put the CD in the player and let's enjoy one more dose of
the original magic of Elvis at the International.
This release is presented in a de-luxe digipack, filled with rare images taken
at the Las Vegas International hotel in August, 1971.

Concert: |

Both concerts are completely new and
present the King in top condition. He doesn't talk too much, but
focuses fully on the music.
Therefore we have two tight shows with great
renditions of many songs like
That’s All Right,
Polk Salad Annie,
Suspicious Minds,
Sweet Caroline or
Johnny B. Goode.
But please choose your own highlight. (Ciscoking) |
