100 Years from Now is the fourth installment in RCA's The Essential
Elvis series. Like the previous three volumes, 100 Years from Now is
a single-disc collection which focuses on a very specific timeframe
-- namely, the sessions Elvis cut in Nashville during 1970 and 1971.
With the addition of some between-song narration, the music from
these sessions would later become the Elvis: Country album. All of
the Elvis: Country record is presented on 100 Years from Now in its
original form -- sans narration, without overdubs and in full
running time. There are also the standard rarities and previously
unreleased songs, like a version of "The Lord's Prayer." Even with
the newly discovered material, what is special about this set is the
original Elvis: Country album, which represents his last great album
and sounds even better in its original, uncut version. (AllMusic
