Elvis On CD │ RCA/BMG/Sony CDs
Elvis Presley
|
This Japanese CD is a true rarity. Not much is known about this release, and not too many collectors know about its existence. It was released in May 1989 and was available through Victor Family Club as part of a mail order series. The CD is number 10 of a 10 CD set with other artists. Elvis' name does not appear on the cover, the spine or the disc itself – it only appears once, in Japanese, next to the total playing time on the back inlay insert. The CD is an S-Ban release – it says S-Record on the disc. S-Ban Hour was the name of a radio program devoted to western music. The S-Ban Hour radio program started in 1952 and it ran probably until 1968. The S prefix was for 78s released by Victor. BAN means 'disc/record' in Japanese – so, - S-Ban means a 78 rpm record. Hence the name - S-Ban Hour. There are several S-Ban Hour compilation CDs with one or more Elvis tracks on. (Info: David Ward/Japan) Made by Victor Entertainment, Inc. (JVC), Japan Comes
